I had to post a picture of one of my students creativity. She made her very own festive sweater and looked so stinking cute in it. 100% effort for the creativity Natalie.
We also took a brain break and did a little dancing on Tuesday.
For our last book project we created Power Point presentations and the kids loved them so much that one of them decided to create one about ME. It made my whole day and was too cute.
Mrs. Dermady's readers loved the first Joey Pigza book so much that they begged to read the second and we have enjoyed it just as much.
We finally finished Esperanza Rising and created our "Two Voice" poems in partners. I was SO incredibly proud of the students and their creative ideas.
We practiced speaking in front of our peers and presented our poems to Principal Clark.
Students engaged in a Scavenger Hunt today in Reading Class. They learned all sorts of FUN FACTS about Halloween and autumn.
They had to read and answer all sorts of interesting questions.

We finished the first Joey Pigza book and now the students are so excited about it that they want to read the second book...Joey Pigza Loses Control. We started it yesterday and they are LOVING it. Let's see what trouble Joey can get into this time or if his new meds will work for him.
Fluffy came and spent a week in AIS Reading with us. She got tons of exercise, listened to many stories and watched our awesome readers in action. She was a joy to spend the week with.
We learned that she loves to eat bananas, apples, grapes and broccoli.
My first group of the day is filled with such great kids that it starts each and every day out GREAT. We are reading the book Joey Pigza Swallowed the Key right now. It is a great book about a boy with ADHD, his struggles and about how others treat him. It ties in great with our new school wide Olweus Anti-Bullying program and the kids are loving it.
During one of the chapters the main character Joey goes on a field trip to an Amish farm where they serve the students "Shoe Fly Pie". We had fun creating our own recipe for "Shoe Fly Pie". I doubt any of you would want to eat it though. The kids filled their recipes with bugs, dirty socks and lots of sugar. They had a great time being creative and working as a team.
Welcome Back to my amazing reading students. We have started full force in all of our classes. I have many old faces this year and many new students and new third graders. I am very excited to be working with all of my students and look forward to a fun filled year of hard work and growth.
We finished the amazing book titled Because of Winn Dixie and in true Mrs. Charlton fashion we are having a Winn Dixie party like the characters in the book did. We are having egg salad sandwiches, peanut butter sandwiches, pickles, Dump Punch and Littmus Lozenges, JUST LIKE the characters in this amazing story had at their party. We are also watching the movie and commenting on how it differs from the book.
Today we engaged in a brainstorming activity dealing with characters in our book Because of Winn Dixie. The students did such an amazing job and I am so proud of them.
